THE SHORELINE OF THE BAY IS SCATTERED WITH 10-15 HOMES SERVICED BY CESSPOOLS. THE SOUTHERN BOUNDARY OF THE BAY IS HONAUNAU NATIONAL PARK AND FURTHER INLAND IS RELATIVELY DRY SCRUB RANCH LAND. THE SAMPLING STATION IS LOCATED IN THE APPROXIMATE MIDDLE OF THE BAY, 250 FEET FROM SHORE.
