THE RIVER ORIGINATES ABOUT 20 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE MEMORIAL; FLOWS NORTH THROUGH THE MEMORIAL AND MERGES WITH THE COLUMBIA RIVER. THE LOWER REACHES ARE TIDE INFLUENCED AND ARE AFFECTED BY FARMS; DAIRIES; AND LOGGING. SEVERAL FISH SPECIES USE THE RIVER FOR SPAWNING; AND THE LOWER REACHES ARE USED FOR REARING YOUNG.
